Christine Council was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who lost her battle to Breast Cancer on February 19, 2003 at the age of 49. Christine believed in giving her last to the ones she adored and kept a smile on her face while overcoming obstacles. No matter the situation, she made those around her feel loved and valued. During her cancer treatment, she fought daily without making any excuses. Instead, she thanked God every chance she had for every new opportunity she was given to spend another day with her family. This scholarship is in remembrance of Christine as her legacy lives through the recipients. The amount given this year will be $2000. In honor of her giving spirit and charitable acts, I would like to recognize an individual who possess qualities that continue the legacy of selflessness and generosity to others.

Eligibility Criteria: 

1. Applicant must be a high school graduating senior with a minimum of a 2.8 GPA

2. Applicant must have an updated transcript with GPA listed

3. Applicant must have a college acceptance letter

4. Applicant must write a one-to-two page personal statement including personal history, education, and career goals

5. One letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or community leader

6. Applicant must exhibit determination, perseverance, confidence, community service, and resilience in one-to-two page personal statement and recommendation letter.
